Zafiro Palace Alcudia, Port d’Alcudia
The five-star Zafiro Palace Alcudia, in a private zone in Port Alcudia, offers all-inclusive holidays that will appeal to families who put their kids’ happiness first but don’t want to sacrifice grown-up style and luxury. There are several bars, 12 pools (one adult-only), gym, and Zen Spa offering whirlpool tub, Turkish bath and sauna as well as a raft of treatments and daily exercise classes. Guests on all-inclusive plans can eat wherever they choose; there’s a buffet restaurant and an Italian, as well as Mediterranean and Asian eateries.

Meliá Cala d’Or, Cala d’Or
The five-star Meliá Cala d’Or boutique hotel – which has an all-inclusive option – is a 10-minute stroll from several sandy beaches and lively Cala d’Or. Aside from the external pool, there is a heated indoor pool and whirlpool tub with lifeguards on duty in both facilities. A cosy spa offers treatments and there’s a gym, sauna and steam room. During the evenings a pianist plays popular tunes in the quaintly furnished Wistaria Piano Bar near the reception, and there are two restaurants. Suites have kitchenettes and all rooms have hydro-massage bathtubs.
Iberostar Playa de Palma, Playa de Palma
The five-star Iberostar Playa de Palma is right by the beach in a well-established resort with easy access to Palma and the airport. With contemporary luxe design and the option to stay on an all-inclusive basis, it appeals to couples and families looking for a superior seaside holiday experience. There is an attractive large outdoor pool and a gym. Fitness activities at the hotel include aquagym and pilates. Watersports can be arranged. The spa has a sauna and steam room. Food options include La Marea, an à la carte restaurant used more by locals than guests, and one of the best places to eat in Playa de Palma.

ME Mallorca, Magaluf
A stylish hotel on the edge of Magaluf, offering glitzy interiors, a cool vibe, a fabulous beachside location, and easy access to Palma and the Tramuntana mountains. White and neutral shades contrast with metallic glitz to create the vibe of a rather cool club. There are two outdoor pools, a gym, and the SkinC beauty centre will have you buffed to brilliance. The beachside Pez Playa restaurant wouldn’t look out of place on the waterfront in Barcelona. The hotel is right on a lovely beach so you want a room at the front.
Viva Cala Mesquida Resort & Spa, Cala Mesquid
This family-friendly resort hotel overlooking Cala Mesquida beach in Majorca offers bright and spacious apartments, lovely views and facilities for tennis, cycling and water sports. Most people in the sprawling resort stay on an all-inclusive basis, as there are numerous dining options. They include several buffets for lunch and dinner, Italian cuisine, Mirablau restaurant right on the beach for grilled meat and fish, and Mexican food at La Guitarra. There are nearly 300 bright and spacious apartments – mostly one bedroom but studios and two bedrooms are also available.
