Forbes is a daily news publication that focuses on business and financial markets and has recently published an article on their website listing countries that have the potential to become tourism powerhouses after the Covid-19 pandemic. This article was written by Jared Ranahan, a seasoned traveler and travel writer.

The same article highlights six other countries aside from the Philippines, these are Ethiopia, Iran, Myanmar, Georgia, Slovenia, and Tunisia.

Ranahan introduced the article as a list of countries that have natural, innate qualities that are essential to become world-class tourism powerhouses. These included “pristine natural beauty, historic ruins, and fascinating cultural experiences that can be encountered in abundance.”

For the Philippines in specific, Ranahan mentioned the main quality that this vast archipelago offers is that it has a variety of travel experiences that can cater to any traveler’s preferences. Even the most finicky of tourists can find something enjoyable across these islands.

The article also commended the mainstream cultural scenes that can be experienced in Metro Manila. It did not fail to include popular beach destinations in the country, as well, such as Palawan and Boracay. Besides these qualities, Ranahan made specific mention of the diverse flora and fauna that serves as an asset of the country to attract nature and environmentally-friendly travelers.

DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat expresses her gratitude upon hearing the Forbes citation, saying that this good news is uplifting after the devastating plunge experienced by the tourism industry as an effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

She also adds, “International recognition, especially by a well-respected publication like Forbes, in this post-Covid-19 pandemic world will go a long way in helping the Philippine tourism industry get back on its feet.”

Puyat also updates the public on the tourism plans of our country, stating that tourism sites are now under preparation for their gradual reopening under the modified general community quarantine. Emphasis is also given that domestic travel will be more encouraged over foreign and overseas ones.
